The Grand Circle - Horseshoe Bend, Arizona
Our third stop on the Grand Circle road trip: Page, Arizona
First things first, Horseshoe Bend.
Horseshoe Bend was a highly anticipated stop for me on the Grand Circle road trip. Located about 4 miles southwest from Page, Arizona, it is a must see when in the area. To get to Horseshoe Bend requires a short, easy walk (a little over 1.5 miles round trip) from the parking area which is located right off HWY 89.
The best time to visit Horseshoe Bend is at sunrise or sunset. I've also heard the canyon is beautiful when a storm is on the horizon. We were there in the late afternoon, creating some intense sun flares. In person, this view is unbeatable no matter what time of day.
As pictured below, you can see that there is no railing allowing you to get extremely close to the edge of the canyon. However, on our way back, we saw a sign stating that the rocks could give out at any moment and that you are to stay away from the edge. Oops! I would NOT recommend taking the chance.
Horseshoe Bend is a must see stop on the Grand Circle Road Trip. While visiting, put away the cameras and take some time to appreciate the view. Remember, what you take in, must come out. Keep this place as beautiful as you keep yourself and remember to stay safe.
