Graham, today you are four months old. You have lived outside of the womb for 122 days which also means I have had only 122 days of experience being a mother. I say this because I still do not have any clue what I’m doing most days and need to remind myself that this is still very new. We’ll get there. This month you stayed awake for all of your play dates with other babies! You also stayed awake for most of the daytime period and got very grumpy at times. We finally found a nap schedule that works and you’ve been feeling a lot better since. At night you are only waking up once to nurse which I hope means we are on our way to sleeping through the night. This month you started to loooove tummy time and taught yourself how to roll onto your belly, which you love to practice throughout the night. Unfortunately you only a few days ago started to figure out how to roll onto your back, which is still a work in progress. We moved you into your own room yesterday, which feels like your first step towards independence (you can live with us forever though.) You have started to make all kinds of noises which includes my new favorite, a high pitched squeal. I hope this is you starting to sing. We are still breastfeeding even though this past month you loved to take your very sweet time and got easily distracted (this means most of our feeds take place in extremely dark, quiet rooms.) You also got the go ahead to practice eating solids and your first food ever was a mashed avocado. You were confused by it initially but after a little while you enjoyed it. This past month you attended your first fair, went to some parties in celebration of your future baby friends, visited the beach, and stayed awake during a dinner out with mommy and daddy. You finally let me put you in your solly baby wrap without freaking out! Your favorite things to do during play time include patting your rattles, pressing the buttons on your singing octopus, knocking over your blocks, and cuddling your mouse. You also love music time with mommy and daddy. We think you might be starting to teeth and as such you've been chewing on your hands hardcore (and sucking your thumb, which is a bummer). You still looooove bath time and have created a huge mess on a nightly basis from all the splashing. But it's seriously so cute so we don't mind cleaning it up. You are the sweetest and are so loved. Happy four months, Graham!
